I've done it. I've accomplished a life long dream, and now I'm hooked. I don't know how I managed my life before I started doing this, but it is something i look forward to and helps me cope with day to day living.
Running. Yes, running. blood pumping, leg aching, chest burning running. it is glorious.
I have never been a runner, and it's only been
the past two years that I've actually started to regularly work out. I have been out of shape most of my life, it has always been a struggle that I have had to deal with. plus, being short doesn't help in the slightest. I have zero height to hide any fat, and so any weight I gain goes completely horizontal.
Yuck. But I have wonderful sisters who have been my personal trainers these past few years. Holly in weight training, and Heidi in running. I had my ups and downs, I lost 20 lbs when I first started, then I took a break and gained most of it back. But now I am back at it, and doing great! I have lost 10 lbs, and I thank holly and heidi for it. holly gives me workouts to do every day, and i've been going strong with it, working out every day since the middle of april.
it wasn't until three weeks ago that I started running.
weights I could do, but running had always been my challenge. I could do two miles pretty good, but never could do more.
well, let me tell you something that makes a difference: running outside. I had a really bad day, and that's the best time to go running. when you have a bad day, you get full of negative energy that swirls within you, waiting in one form or another to get out. instead of venting to my mom (which I usually do) I made myself put on my gym shoes, and went running.
I always would just run on a treadmill, and holy cow, it was like discovering running a new. since I had a store of negative energy in me, I was able to go farther than I had ever gone before, I bashed my long time two-mile-rut. I never knew I could go farther until I tried. The feeling of accomplishment was astounding, a beautiful burning of joy that could only come from doing something hard.
that's when I really got into running. I told Heidi all about it, and she got so excited and wouldn't you know it? she signed us up for a 10 K. a 10 K!!! I was thinking a 5 k, but Heidi convinced me to go the extra mile, to challenge myself even more. I just gave my all and ran 3 miles, could I even consider doing six?
I had to. I was already signed up, I had to run 6.2 miles, and only had two weeks to train.
Heidi gave me a schedule, and I also went off sugar that day. I wanted to be completely fit and ready for the 10 k, and that meant my eating had to be impeccable.
I put my all into training, eating right, and following Heidi's running schedule. each time I'd run a bit farther, the joy of running getting stronger with each pump of the leg. to go longer each day, to test the boundaries of the impossible. I would run to escape from the world, the stress, the daily oppression. I would let it all out in running. running turned from a drudgery to an unbelievable joy.
The 10 K came, and I conquered it. I never stopped once, never. stopped. once. even running up the Goliath Hill, I kept running. I DID IT! I RAN A 10 K! in 1 hr and 5 min. Heidi was amazing, she did it in like 40 min and won first place in her age!
and now I'm hooked. I love running, I look forward to it in the mornings. I'm still off sugar, and eating really good. and all the work I've been doing is showing! clothes are looser, the veins in my hands are showing, and i am stronger. I have done the impossible goal in my life. I did it.
I am conqueror.
that's heidi running in
After heidi ran in, she came back for me
that's me (in the gray) sprinting for the end
My wonderful cousin Tiare, who cheered me on during the whole race!
My dad (yellow), me (sweaty), and kysnie (sunglasses) together after the race

Krystal Moments
I've been spending a lot of time with my family lately, and it's been really nice. I love hanging out with my sisters, it's never a dull moment with them. Especially with Krystal. Pretty funny stuff happen with her that makes me laugh. I like to call them Krystal Moments. I would like to share some with you.
One day I was meeting my family at subway. I was late and so my fam. ordered my sandwich for me me. I was driving on the freeway, when this text conversation ensued:
Krystal: Do you want honey mustard or just mustard?
Karli: Reg
Krystal: What?
Karli (frustrated): Regular
Krystal: Regular mustard? or what?
Karli: (really frustrated) Yes!! no, regular napkins!
Krystal: i'm sorry, I'm only seventeen
Haha, oh krystal. after my frustration, I found the conversation really funny. she always has something random to say or mixes up her sentences. whenever I tell her what she said doesn't make sense, she responds like this: "well it's in my dictionary. You should read it."
Here is another Krystal moment:
Krystal, Kynsie and I were getting our makeup and hair done by holly, Jesse, and Kelsy one day for a photo shoot. we were running late, so everyone was kind of on edge (not really, more like a funny edge). Krystal complained about something, and Jesse said, "Krystal, you need to sweeten up."
Krystal responded, "No, I'm German."
well all laughed, but she didn't get it. it wasn't until later I explained, "Jesse said sweeten, not Sweden."
she laughed vigorously at herself.
Oh krystal, I love you so. Tune in next time for more Krystal Moments!!

Finally! an update!
k, so the worst blogger award goes to me! holy cow, I'm not very good at this, but I have a blog so I should blog, right? haha. so what has been happening in my life? tons of things. first of all, I moved out to an apartment! 'what?' you may ask. yes, it's true. I'm now living the true college life, living on my own. not that I'm there a whole lot, I'm a working woman! haha and what a great job I have. Nannying is the bomb!
so that's my life, working and living with roommates, who always have something fun going on. oh, also, I am writing a book, and it's pretty awesome. I'm really excited about it! Holly came up with the idea, and helps me with it.
Holly is becoming quite the photographer! it's great for me, I feel like a model because we keep having these fun 'photo shoots'. holly does are hair and make up all crazy cool, and picks out our outfits, and we have a blast! good thing holly has model sisters ;) the pictures below are just a few pics of our fun photo shoots.
one last blog worthy thing to say, I got one of the worst stomach flus of my life. almost two weeks ago, I went to Arizona to go to my dear cousin's wedding. it was fun, playing in the sun and hanging out with family, I had a blast! I came home saturday night, ate a chicken sandwich from arctic circle, then went to bed.
woke up around 3:30, and ran to the bathroom.
oh my gosh, the pain and agony I felt was extremely severe!!! I spent all morning by the toilet, my body would not, would NOT stop throwing up! after the fifth time, there was no more food to throw up, so I started dry heaving and vomiting stomach juice. I was getting so mad at my body, there was nothing left to throw up and it still would not stop!!! I could not lay down, my stomach felt worse. I didn't want to stand, my body was weak, so I just had to kneel forever. it was horrible.
I threw up 13 times, a new personal record. I could not move at all. eventually I could lay down, and I did thankfully and didn't ever movie except to hurl.
it was a nightmare, and I thought it was food poisoning from the chicken sandwich, because my dad got sick too (not as severe as me) and he ate at arctic circle too.
I vowed never, ever to eat there again.
the stupid sickness took forever to leave my body! I did not have a true appetite for a bout a week.
well, guess what? it turned out that a ton of my extended family that was in arizona with me got sick too!
so we got the bug in arizona, it gave it to us!
still, I don't think I ever want to eat at arctic circle again, just because it was the last thing I ate before I got sick.
well, that's my exciting news. here are the pictures!
this is our vampire picture :)

Spring Break
spring break was aaaaaaaaaamazing!!! It was so much fun! so like a month ago, leilani and I were thinking of how to celebrate our birthdays since we are only a week apart. we had a thought: go to zions during spring break. we really liked that idea. well, we told our friend, Irasema, and she loved it to. and then it just took off from there! Irasema was amazing, and planned the whole tripped out and invited more people. ten people, four boys and six girls, agreed to go. I was excited, and nervous since i didn't know anyone but lani and irasema. But I was still excited to go to zions.
well, we met up on thursday morning, we all met and packed and drove down to zions. we all hit it right off and got a long really well. it was so fun going and setting up our camp and getting all settled. we went on a few hikes that first day, and zions is so beautiful! we made a great dutch oven dinner, but we couldn't stay outside too much longer. a huge storm hit us, and we ran for cover inside the tents. the winds were so fierce that the tent was flapping like crazy! it was actually really cool. at on point on corner became unstaked and the wall came down upon me and leilani. despite the fierce winds though, I was beat. I snuggled down in my mummy bag (wearing two pairs of socks, leggings, pants, sweatshirt, gloves, and my hood on) and fell asleep. i actually had a good night! The storm was all gone in the morning and it was a bright new day!
the first hike we went on was Emerald pools hike. it was really pretty, and leilani, irasema, her boyfriend grand and I at one point went off the trail and explored. it was really fun!
well, I heard that angels landing is an amazing hike, and I really wanted to go on it. leilani did too, but no one else did. so we separated and lani and I went on angels landing. wow!! that is an amazing hike! and it is rigorous! It was absolutely beautiful, but I was almost crawling on my hands and knees when we were almost to the top, my legs were just screaming with pain and exhaustion. but we did it! and I am so happy I did it, I feel like I can do anything now :) and it was so pretty at the top! and lani and I met these two guys up there, and they were cute and nice and we ended up hiking down together.
that hike did me in, I was so sore the next day! but still went on a hike and had a blast with everyone!! I had so much fun, and was sad when it was over. it was a great spring break.

20th birthday
so, I had a birthday on march 7. I am now 20. 20!!!! crazy!!!! I am no longer a teenager!! I will never ever ever ever ever ever be a teen again! wow, it's so weird. well, I had a most spectacular birthday because of my spectacular family. on Saturday, my wonderful parents took me out to my favorite restaurant, carrabbas!! it was soooo good! man, that place has good food. then on saturday I was awoke by my wonderful father biting my arm and wishing me a happy birthday. :) I dressed my best, my hair straight and everything, and went to church. and since my dad is the bishop, he announced that it was my birthday. wonderful.
we had home made cafe rio salads for dinner, at my request. yum yum!! and my wonderful family got me wonderful presents that I was totally not expecting! and my finale present was my new laptop, which i love so much!
heidi made my favorite brownies to top it all off. what a perfect birthday.

Pain Day
I guess today is Pain Day, I wish I had gotten the memo and been more prepared. It all started this morning. I woke up with screams and painful stabs in my shoulders and legs when I moved them. that was understandable, I did a heavy workout yesterday. still, it doesn't feel too great. Then I had to iron some shirts. it was my first time ironing, so I tried to be extra careful. I did NOT want to burn my hand. I hate burns, they agonizingly hurt.
what do you know. I burned my hand. I can see blisters forming. lovely.
I tried to ignore the pain and my idiocy and continued on with my work. my poor burned fingers pulsed with blazing pain, but I tried to not think about it and continue on to my next task: Vacuuming. I vacuum every week, every wednesday, without anything ever happening. but of course today is Pain Day, so something had to happen. While I was carrying the vacuum up the stairs, it slipped and landed onto my foot. perfect. just what I needed, a squished, bruised foot.
limping, and with burned fingers, I finished vacuuming.
Then I had a dentist appointment. just a check up, clean teeth, yadda yadda, leave. oh no, not this time. this time the dentist says I need a tiny filling. so small that I don't need to be numbed. alright, since today is Pain Day I thought, might as well. it was really fast, but still unpleasant and of course, a little bit of pain.
I was on my way home, in my car, where I was safe from harm. well, since nothing could hurt me, my body decided to cause internal pain. knife stabbing pain in my lower abdomen, only thing I can think of what it was was cramps. painful, intestine squeezing, cramps. it took all my strength to concentrate on the road and driving, the pain consumed my mind. and as soon as I got home and stepped out of my car, the cramps left, it's goal to cause me pain while driving accomplished.
Happy Pain Day every one! hopefully nobody sustained too many injuries!

A poem of my life
I have not updated in a long, long time
my heart sorrows in a lost maze
but there is a good reason for this crime
my life has been busy-filled my days
this new year I started school
still working two kid-loving jobs
do not worry, I am no fool
I knew it would be a tough jog
Everyday was a crazy adventure
Kids yelling, dancing, and gone wild
It will be joyous when they all mature
But they're still fun even when not-so-mild
Savanna is the oldest of the three
She's the ringleader of her siblings
Fun, outgoing, and helpful is she
Everything she does is so full of feelings
Fiora Comes next in the line
She likes to laugh, dance, and play
She is silly and giggly most of the time
Never a dull moment with her in the day
Last but not least, there is Weston
Super Hero's are his role model of fun
You'll usually see him in a cape jumpin
Don't call him cute, he is cool and awesome
February so far has been filled with driving.
My time is divided between Orem and Eagle Mt.
I love the two places though the drive can be stifling
But its worth the gas, so I can't complain
I juggle work, school, friends, and family
Sometimes it's hard to balance this many
But with love and laughter it's not so cranky
Life is a climb, but the view is pretty.
